Colour is the product
With coloured gemstones, colour decides the price. A sapphire that drifts purple, an emerald that turns neon or a ruby pushed towards pink is not a nicer picture. It is a different stone, and the customer will notice when the parcel arrives.
- Blue sapphires drifting violet under warm scene light
- Emeralds oversaturated into a flat, plastic green
- Tanzanite and amethyst swapping tones
- Champagne and cognac diamonds turned white
How we keep it
The stone colour and saturation from your source photo are treated as fixed. When a scene has warm or cool light, the light falls around the stone instead of recolouring it. That is the difference between a jeweller built tool and a general one.
Your source photo matters
Because we keep what you give us, start with a photo in neutral daylight. Avoid yellow indoor bulbs and phone filters, they shift the stone before we ever see it. Our phone photo guide has the details.
